The 2005 AGS Experiment
Data analysis was performed independently for the detector systems of the Berkeley and NASA groups. However, the data analysis for the University of Houston detector required coincident, event by event aligned, information of all three detector systems.
Measurements were performed at energies of 3, 5, and 10 GeV/A for several beam projectiles (C, Al, Fe) and a list of targets. In respect to the University of Houston detector related data analysis the following combinations of projectile and target were considered at all three energy settings.
For the selected data sets binary files were produced and are made available here. These contain the information of all three detector systems in a well defined format. Extra information is included which enables the alignment of events across the detector systems. A short description of the binary file format is given blow. In addition, software in form of a simple C program is provided to illustrate how to access the binary files and loop over the aligned events. Further we include a root based analysis template (see root.cern.ch) as a realistic example of how to make use of the binary data files.
